A personal photography project I did a few years back was to take portraits of the homeless. It was the middle of winter in NYC. It was very cold and snowing outside. I was very nervous to approach them and ask them to come back with me a few blocks to my studio. The first homeless man I asked flat out said no and walked away. I felt like just throwing in the towel as who would follow a stranger back to get their photo taken? Especially a homeless person right? Why would they want their photo taken when they are probably at their lowest of lows in life. Well I decided to try again. I paced back n forth a few times as I found one guy I wanted to ask. My heart was beating pretty fast as I approached him. I said hello and introduced myself. Then after just talking for a few minutes I offered him a cup of coffee and he offered me his story.
